mods I have is a full 3" exhaust and hks intake and synapse bov. I'm assuming all else is factory I've only had the car 3 weeks. It's a 03 evo 8 with only 33k miles. I heard a clicking or chattering sound near the back of the intake around 2k and 3k rpms. It only does it at those rpms after that it goes away. On my way how the EGR CEL came on I reset it and now the clicking / chattering is gone. Why did this happen any ideas? The car also seem to lose power once the clicking started. I haven't drove it again yet but all sounds good now. Please help with a solution.

 

check the little hose behind the intake manifold sometimes that pops off under boost i believe its connected into your egr its kinda hard to see.

 

Ok thanks. Would that cause the sound I'm hearing. I just want reassuarce it's not the drivetrain or clutch. It has a ACT clutch in it

 

i dont know about the sound but my hose popped off and i had my light come on for egr.

 

the noise is from the front??? or the back of the car??? if it's the rear then it's a good chance it's the bushings on the rear diff. it's been covered alot and the fix is cheap and can be bought at the local parts store

 

It's from the front like under the intake manifold. I think it's the egr valve making the noise but not 100% sure so wanna see if anyone else has had this problem. The noise is gone now since I reset the cel. Just wanna know if this is a common issue
