Build Date Correlations
Build Date Correlations
Is anyone aware of build date related issues on the EVO?.....
I was told my EVO was part of the last shipment for this model year....It was produced in July....shipped in August....I hope this works to my advantage, but I don't have my fingers crossed.
EDIT 11/06/03 - Many encouraging comments so far, although no relationship to build date is evident....PLEASE POST POSITIVE OWNERSHIP COMMENTS TOO! (NO PROBLEMS SO FAR, ETC.)
This post is in no way meant to minimize the problems that other EVO owners have had...instead it has turned into seperate but hopefully equal commentary on positive ownership experiences. Keep 'em coming.

I have a March 2003 Build Evo and my car has 10k miles and is frequently drag raced and track raced without one single problem, the clutch is as good as new. My friend has a Feburary 2003 build and his clutch went at 8k and now his tranny is gone... I to am wondering if maybe in this small period of a month they fixed some things or if it is just luck I am having? Well if it is luck I pray that it doesn't run out!
mine was built in august. i think most a05 or a64's are late model year builds. i have 2700 miles on it and i don't have the temperature knob problem, no decel noises, no clutch problems. actually i have no problems. I mean the car has no problems.
I'm not so sure if the actual month your EVO was built has anything to do with the quality. I think it boils down to how the factory workers were feeling the day your car was assembled. I have a build date of FEB 03 and my car has not had a single problem. I have just under 11,000 miles on her thus far. Still performing like a champ (However, make sure you all are checking your tire pressures at least once a month. With the change in temp, the tires could lose air causing premature wear on those expensive advans).
i need to check on my build date, but i bought mine in august. it had just got off a truck. running about 1400 miles and no probs yet..... (thank god). i really have no complaints, just the fact that i wanted a sunroof in my color, but i didn't want to wait for one to come in.

My car was built in april and i havent had any problems at all after 12.5k miles
I drove a January built car with 2.5k miles on it and the deceleration buzz was A LOT louder than mine

My car is a January car and I have just over 9k miles on it. I have a noise coming from the door panel and I have yet to drop it off at Mitsu to have them fix it. Other than that, no problems. I have not ridden in another Evo, so I don't know if any of the drivetrain noises are loud or not.
later build date will have the same problem, the fact its newer means you'll the same problems down the road, don't be too happy or mad. My car is built 12/02 and I have not had any real porblems yet. Beside the normal mitsubishi rattles....
