Help ! Leak... lots of water.

Hey everyone as you know the east coast is getting a lot of rain. I went out to my car the other day and noticed a lot of water on the passengers side front floor.
I cannot see any places where the water is coming in. I followed the trail as high as i could but the interior blower for the ac and stuff is in the way. I thought I had found one possible place where my boost gauge line comes in but i sealed it with silicon and still more water today. The car has never leaked before. Any ideas or people with similar problems. I remember seeing a post with a leak before but I was unable to find it or remember if it was drivers side or passengers side.
thanx for your time guys.

Possible missing grommit on the fire wall or even underneath the car. Have a buddy shoot the car top and bottom with a garden hose till you find where its coming from

yeah there is a grommet under the front strut bar (passenger side) that opens right behind the glovebox. maybe water followed power or vacuum lines and dripped inside

from the engine bay you can reach it if you dont have giant manly hands... looking at the engine bay, you know the bulge in the frame where strut bar and struts attach to? feel behind it.

from the interior, it is quite difficult to reach it by hand. you need to remove the glove box then reach it with a straightened hanger etc

Same thing happened to me over Saturday night. My gf and I get into the car on Sunday morning and we find a mini puddle on the floor in front of the passengers seat. I took apart the door sill and corner trip, pulled the carpet up and soaked up all the residual water with towels. I also soaked up the water from the carpet. It's still a little damp, so I'll be checking it again after work today and if it's still bad, I'll be locating a wet vac and going to town. I'm also going to be febreezing it again.

After soaking everything up, I reached my arm up behind the glove box toward the fender and found the potential hole where it MIGHT be coming from. It's the same hole where the washer fluid line goes through. However, I'll also be checking for the hole that mifesto is talking about to see if that's a potential spot.

I've never had any water come into the car in the 2 years I've owned it. I've been through 5 snow storms at this point and many rain storms and never have I had any issues!

Annoying as hell. Does anyone else have any ideas where it might be coming from?

any resolution to this issue?

possibly the evaporator drain is clogged making it unable to drain the rain that enters through the fresh air vent...

wash fluid hose does NOT go through there. most evos have a rubber grommet there and you have to push it out with a screw driver etc to use the hole. i believe mitsu uses this hole for its optional gauge cluster

There's definitely a wire and/or hose that runs parallel to it then because when it stuck my hand up and found that little opening and moved the wire, I definitely was moving the washer fluid hose. I'll have to see if I can get under there with a flash light.

I checked the firewall from the engine bay yesterday but was unsuccessful in really finding a spot where water could enter.

Yesterday after work I was able to soak up whatever remaining water was left in the carpet/insulation. It was puddled up under the carpet, AGAIN, but I soaked it all up with towels. I pulled the carpet up and layed a towel down underneath it, then pushed the carpet back down. I then took a glass jar and rubbed/passed/rolled it over the carpet and squeezed out whatever left over water there was. I did this a few times, and also used a chamois. When I was done squeezing water out, I pulled the carpet up again, propped something up underneath it and blasted the heater, obviously pointed to the ground.

This technique worked pretty darn well, but I am still dealing with the lingering wet carpet smell. I might see if I have some carpet cleaner in the house and try using that on it. However, my guess is that it's the insulation attached to the bottom of the carpet that's really stinking it up. I might pull the carpet back up today and spray the insulation down with Febreeze.

I hope the smell goes away soon!
