we use smoke machines at work to find leaks on the thrust reversers on the planes....
but like said, unless its pressurized, your only gonna see holes in the system. a lot of leaks are found under pressure. not sure you will see any leaks without having a pressurized system

indeed this does sound REALLY cool! I hope this is what he has... I'll find out on Sat. and report back, as to how many leaks I have... Im sure I have @least 1 (stock BOV) I told him, I thought that it was leaking, I let him drive the car for a couple mins. and he said yes, the BOV is leaking! lol
He also said hell throw in an upgraded spring hes got laying around...
Has any1 needed an upgraded spring in the "stock" BOV?

you cant change the spring in the stock BOV's...

people usually just crush the top of them and they are good for a few more psi

Never thought of using smoke, but as others have said, as long as the system is pressurized once there is smoke in it that would be nice.

A bright orange or a purple pop smoke would be the perfect color, you would see it instantly.

Can some1 enlighten me on why u cant change out the spring for a slightly stiffer one w/ the stock BOV, please. I understand most just crush the stocker, (as I have had done) but I would assume the stocker has a spring in it as well. Would there be no benefit from a slightly stiffer spring?
Im not sure if he thought I had an upgraded BOV or not, when he mentioned that he would even throw in a new spring, for me... Just wanna make sure Im in "the know" and learn something new...

thanks for the responses guys!

the stock diverter valve is not a serviceable part, that is why you can not change the spring inside of it.
