Have an 05 evo viii and getting the HID bulbs from my buddies sold 03 evo viii. Do I need anything else besides the bulbs to hook them up properly? In other words will my current harness set up for my non HID bulbs now work well if I swap out the bulbs?

 

If you car didn't come with hids you will need the ballasts to.

 

Any idea on where to get them cheap?

not that easy. The HID bulbs from your friend's car will not seat at the base of your non-hid headlights. Yes you need a ballast, but you also need a re-based HID bulb (I believe you need a 9006 base, don't quote me on that).
If you want to use stock HID setup, you need new HID housings (JDM, USDM) OEM ballasts, OEM HID bulbs and then you need to work the wiring some.
Your best bet: find a re-based HID kit (stay away from cheap no brand stuff, look for someone that sales phillips rebased bulbs with denso ballasts.)
