anyone else paint there evo 8 (euro style) tail lights RED to resemble the evo 7 tails then later realize that u painted over the reverse bulb and now you feel like no one cares if your backing up because u have RED back up lights??


hahah took me almost a year to realize that haha a buddy asked me why i had red back up lights and i was like huh????...oooohhh sh*t!


anyone have a fix for this mod? <---

 

If it any consolation, your car looks great with those tails.

 

I commented on this on a few threads quite a while ago, and was one reason I decided NOT to go this route, I disassembled and painted the chrome black, a-la-IX style...

Also have a black evo here, and last thing I needed was for some nitwit to think I was braking, not backing up out of a parking space or other situation... and get hit. I know many do this, and like it.. I'm a function over fashion guy, so the painting the chrome to flat black worked well.. looks good, and doesn't dampen any of the coloring of the bulbs.

Good luck removing the paint if you choose to. (Probably better off selling them on here, as someone will want them, and get a set of stock 8's or 9's.

Why not swap the wiring for the backup lights and the rear turn signal and put in a clear bulb?

Reverse would then use the lower clear lens and the turn signal would use the red backup section.

 

That looks really nice. I also like Ardent's idea.

 

i was thinking that same deal or putting another bulb in the turn signal section

 

is it hard to take the tails apart without damaging the lens/housing?
