Why can't i go pass 6.5k rpm?

Hey everyone,

I'm still a newbie with my evo but i just wanted to know why can't i go pass 6.5k rpm. Every time i accelerate to try to reach 7k rpm it won't let me go pass 6.5k. It seems like it's already reach red line because it just shuts off and wants me to shift. Any help will be appreciated.

lower rev limit set by tuner/previous owner? if not it could be bad gas causing timing pull/ignition cut

Hmm.. I don't know. I mean Everytime I hit boost it would just reach 6.5k and the rev meter starts bouncing. The car drives fine but I'm just a little worried why it won't not pass 6.5 rpm.

does the car have a stock air box? if so check to see if any of the foam got sucked into the box and is blocking the maf screen. Happened to a friend of mine on his 8.

^The two step is only enabled when the car isnt moving which is not the case here. This sounds like the actual rev limiter has been lowered. If I were you I would have a competent tuner check out your car. A proper tune will make your car run so much better not to mention the fact that they could raise that rev limiter.

The car is stock at the moment besides k&n drop in filter and act 6 puck.

For some reason I think the rev limit did lowered. I'm going to make a appointment with a tuner and see whatsup with the car. Thanks all.

eh its in the same location in the ecu, tech the 2 step is just a stationary limiter as opposed to the moving limiter, just have a tuner change your parameters.

^I am not sure what you mean by same section. They are two different parameters. Here is a screen shot from Ecuflash. As you can see one is called stationary rev limiter aka two-step and the other is rev limiter, most likely set around 6500 in his case.

It might be that timing is not correct, i heard of some other cars having that problem because of their timing
