Evo your only car?
It depends on the age. Some people's insurance is higher than others. I drive a 2000 green civic to work and back and take the Evo out on weekends. 2006 GRS and only has 30,400 on it. Used to be my dd until last year. Civic is cheap on gas and maintenance and allows me to keep the Evo in pristine conditions for years to come.

Can't argue with the insurance point though. I pay $1,500 per year on the Evo and drive it about 40 times, maybe. I offset that with how long I'll be able to enjoy it and not have to get another car and modify all over again.
I DD my Evo 8 but I live close to work so I don't put a lot of miles on it and we always drive my wife's Murano on the weekends. I'd love to get a beater so that I can do more work on the Evo but at the same time I always say why pay for a car that you never drive.
Just got a 91 CRX for a dd. Hope it doesn't turn into a project car, but swaps are so cheap! I have a bike too, but I don't want to risk my life every day commuting on it to work in Boston. Besides, when it rains it is not possible to ride the bike here because of the terrible roads.
The money I will save in gas almost pays for the insurance on the second car, and the depreciation saved by the lost miles more than offsets the cost. If I do keep the EVO for awhile, then I want it to be rust free with as much life left as possible. No need to commute in traffic/on the highway in the EVO, and I need a second car for when the EVO needs work, which is often. : (

I spend about $220/month on insurace TOTAL for the Evo and my 4Runner, the 4Runner only cost aout $60 of that amount and is a paid off vehicle that I dont have to worry about getting messed up, racking up miles, crappy drivers in bad weather hitting me, parking it in shady parts of town, etc. I also use it a lot for camping/offroad/snowboarding/hauling stuff etc. My Evo doesnt have enough ground clearance to make it into half the parking lots around here with my coilovers and front lip, so its not practical in that sense. Having my DD and paying $60 month insurance for it is a no-brainer for me. The Evo is more for enjoyment, and the practical thing to do would be to save up money instead of buying the Evo as a second car/hobby, and spending money I can never recoup on parts in the first place. Might die next year for all I know, so F*** it I bought an Evo
Well I am only 22, so I have no need for 2 cars yet, nor can afford the two. I'd rather keep up with proper maintenance on my evo and add extras when possible!
I plan to keep it forever lol, so eventually I would like another, maybe luxurious and more professional looking car for DD however, it is so hard to find a replacement car for the evo.

Evo is my DD. I have bikes for when I don't have to ferry kids around, but no other drivable car. I don't count the wife's van, cos i don't drive it, or the MG Midget with no steering column of front wheel hubs on it. Cos I can't drive it. Or the STi, cos my son bought it from me. The EVO is, in fact, my company car :-)
i have always had multiple cars. but i only use the evo for daily driving and my other vehicles always given it to my family to use. they pay for it but i owned them. i can take and use another car if my car is on some down time (her period) so that is very helpful. and other reasons like taking trips to places like poconos and this summer florida and myrtle beach. ease the mileage on the evo and no need for those type of long trips in a somewhat not comfy car.
i'm married with two kids. so yeah.
