Yea dealerships can give you a hard time when it comes to fixing the car. It's easy for the to sell you the warranty but hard for them to live to it. When I had an issue with y evo they refused to fix it because the car was modified which didn't make sense cause I bought the car modified. Did you purchase it from a five star dealer? Well I'm in California I don't know if in the east coast you get legal help. Maybe you should contact the federal business bureau. Don't let them get away with taking your hard earned money cause they don't want to live up to their warranty agreement. I feel for you man as I am as well a full-time student and work full-time. It is frustrating, depressing, and annoying but keep your head up!

Sorry to hear about the issues you've been having. There was a post a few weeks ago I got hammered on saying I was just scaring people when I said you need to set aside about 3k when buying a used evo and just assume the TCase/Trans/Clutch is on borrowed time.

I was the devil. In your case honestly there isn't going to much you can do since the dealership probably got some BS to get you out of the their hair. once you had no problems for a while it (to them) automatically absolved them of all blame. if this happened a month after they "fixed" it they would still say it was your fault. Shady but thats how they are.

BBB doesn't do $#!t but give you a place to b!tch and notify them (most businesses laugh at these listings).

I know money is tight but honestly it sounds like you will have to find another way to get around.....stack whatever money you can (Get a second job i thats possible) and save the money to do it right.....good clutch, Shep rebuilt TCase and Transmission, and have peace of mind that you should have a pretty stout drivetrain

Start making friends with local evo owners in your area that could possibly be extremely handy. A buddy of mine here had his transfer case go out on a track. Within a week another evo owner nearby gave him an extra transfer case that he had laying around for like $150, and then he did the install himself. (Granted he has a mechanic background) But in any case, the people on these forums are pretty helpful, and alot of people have alot of stuff laying around their garages. Get on the regional forums and make a friend!

Contact Lonnie @ LaScuola Motorsports. He's on these forums and is great with Evos. I think his shop is less than half an hour from you and he'll definitely be able to take care of your car.

I think you could probably find a new tranny / transfercase combo on the boards here for around $2500 - $3k... probably.. I would do what everyone else suggested, check out a local shop man, some of them might have TC's just chillen.

Not only that but on Evo's if you abuse the stock drivetrain you shorten the life of them. Its just a fact. The previous owner may not have known there was a problem brewing but its a crap shoot with these cars.

When I bought my car I sent the TCase and tranny out before i drove it and got a good used triple carbon clutch.

I have had 0 car created issues with my car (I do have some issues that have been created from me trying to get more power out of it).

I'd like to get my Evo 9 eventually retuned with smaller injectors (currently my setup has 1000 cc injectors with the stock 9 turbo, no upgraded cams, and no methanol injection.

Randy, these guys are right though. Take the car to an Evo specialist, not a general mechanic. Also, see what you can do on here to try to get some second hand parts maybe? It's a cheaper route vs. brand new and a little more risky, but you will save a lot more $$$. There are a lot of legit people on here that have perfectly functioning spare parts laying around.

Here is what I would do, and have done in A different situation. Keep track of every piece of paper they gave you. Call the mayors office/media source every couple of days as well as the dealership. Don't ever loose you cool. With the mayor/media, you should just "checking on procedure of addressing lemon laws" or "cases involving lemon laws". With the dealership, make a few calls acti g as someone else looking for a car. Ask about their warrenty and what it covers. If you get one of those guys that you can tell is itching to make the sale, lead him/her on and then drop the "well, this guy in my class bought and evo and he said he is still having problems". Get your friends in on it. If you convince them that they will loose business because of you, they can't ignore you.
Before anyone says it won't work...it's work for a friend of mine, and me.
