Buying used, what to look for?

I'm looking to buy a 2003 Evo VIII. What should I be looking for when going over the car? what are general mechanical problems that I need to watch out for?

Thanks

any reason you're looking for an 03? If I was buying an EVO 8, i'd definately stick to an 05 model. If at all possible, I'd look into getting an 06 IX model though.

Maybe the 03 is more in his price range. There are a lot of things to look for when buying used. Carfax would be a good start. Also any mods done to the car can be good or bad. Listen for t-case whine, slipping clutch, etc. If the car has passed 60k, I'd have a full maintenance service done to include water pump and timing belt. Try and take a friend that owns an Evo to help point things out too. Good luck man.

maybe he's found an 03 near him or something so hes interested in it and wants to know what he should look for when checking it out. But the 05 is certainly the best choice for an 8 and imo the 9 is a better choice overall. just my .02
