Having run an Evo Power Mods o2 dump I wouldn't recommend that particular dump. The fitment wasn't that great and I actually melted my intercooler piping. I would consider looking into MA Performance's dump as I have heard very good things about their fitment.

As far as if o2 dumps help make more power... that's open to debate. Without a dump, exhaust exits the wastegate and merges with the exhaust leaving the turbine. If this doesn't happen smoothly it can create backpressure which in turn means less power. But, on the Evo, the design is pretty good from the factory, so on our cars, o2 dumps may not help a whole heck of a lot. I'd say it may be good for a little bit of extra power, but nothing crazy.

Agreed... Also with the installation of an O2 dump you can hold boost better.

This would make sense too. The less back pressure on the back of the wastegate flapper, the easier it is to control boost...

loud and annoying, its cool at first, then u want it to shut up... Almost burned thru my licp, did actually burn thru my ac line, heat soaks the oil system if u roadrace.... If u put put around town all day and bring it to the drag strip once a month, it would be alright... I actually prefer installing the epm one over the MAP one... If u like to go straight a couple times a month u should go for it.. If u want to do any kind of real motorsports, dont waste ur time

Its setup related too. If you plan on doing a stock turbo at like 23psi dont waste your money. If youre planning on running an FP Black at 35psi, it should help. After weeks and weeks of trying to research it, asking questions, reading threads, I determined that for my setup a dump would be beneficial. Theres some who swear by them and others who hate em.

There are so many threads on this. If i remember correctly, the thread also states that the "o2 dump reduces the life of the turbo". it's a really good read and turned me off of getting one. like the previous guy said, some love em and others hate em.

The thing you need to look for, and what everyone has so far forgot to mention, that the wastegate dump area has to be ported/enlarged to match the turbine side and not just be a single hole. I'm sorry but the MAP and EPM o2 dumps, at least the ones I've seen pics of, are just a single hole and don't have the wastegate area enlarged. The JMFab or Shearer is going to be the best unit. Shearer uses the JM flange. Here is a pic of my Shearer dump after I cleaned it up and got it coated:

thats the stupidest thing i heard. please explain how running an o2 dump will reduce the life of your turbo? where your wastegate gasses come out would have no effect on the actual turbo

a o2 dump will benefit your car the most on high boost applications. other then that, theres really no need for one

Agreed, if anything less back pressure would increase bearing life and less heat would help everything. (A very small amount)
