I'd use a gasket, don't use silicon or it will be an effin batch to remove when you take it apart (to do it right) and use a gasket.

I use Permatex Ultra Grey. It can be found at autozone or Napa. I use it for the turbo > downpipe, wastegate, and misc flanges. Also on the projectors at work!

I've used the rtv sealant but I also have a way better one made by the same company except it foams to the shape so it works real nice. When I get home I'll get the name for you. It also is avail at autozone and it's ina black pressurized can.

Your probably looking for the Permatex Copper Gasket maker.

I would seriously get something like this:

http://www.grimmspeed.com/catalog/pr...products_id=62

I have something similar to it and I have switched downpipes many times, and been re-using the same gasket and its still holding a tight seal.

I use the copper spray on all of my exhaust gaskets. You can find at Kragen/Checker/Oriellys in the sealant section. Great stuff. Follow the directions on the can!

Ditto, but he wants to use no gasket.

Don't use gray. As BluEVOIX said, the Orange Copper Silicone is the best for this. You will need to wait for it to dry before driving though.

I will 2nd that. Only the orange silicone is rated for the type of temperatures that your exhaust will see. Gray is definitely not high-temp, just sensor-safe.

Yea, the orange RTV is for super high temp stuff. I use it WITH an exhaust gasket on my system to make sure it seals.
