Is there a harness you can buy to where you don't have to hack up any original wiring? Also you guys say that driveability improves, did your MPGs improve as well?

MAT = manifold air temp
IAT = intake air temp
AIT = air intake temp

They are all the same sensor just different ways of saying it. Basically for speed/density the ecu needs to know the manifold pressure (MAP sensor) and air temp to calculate fuel.

Or would I need both as I will be using a GM IAT?

The 1st link is for the Speed Density harness.

The 2nd link is for a plug and play harness on a GM 3-port BCS (needed for ECU based boost control.)

I have the latter, and the quality is excellent!

Im not 100% sure you need it still if you live in an area where the weather might stay pretty consitant. dont quote me 100% on none of this but I know I dont run an IAT and my car runs AMAZING on SD.
you need a IAT if your in an area where the weather changes. not everyone does their own tuning and id assume someone asking what sensors are needed to run speed density, isnt going to be tuning their own car.

but your right, if your in an area where the weather is consistant, its not needed

This is true, but at the same time, the MAT takes the air temperature from the temperature in the manifold which has been compressed and post-IC.

The IAT measures air temperature pre-compression, which is a lot different. For a proper SD setup with temp-correction, does one need to run the MAT and IAT or one of the other? Which one is better to use?

I'm not real familiar with the SD hack for the evo but I've never had to run two intake air temp sensors on a SD setup. The ecu just needs to know the temp of the air entering the intake manifold (after the IC). The air temp going into the turbo would be useful to log your turbo and IC efficiency but isn't going to help much with the actually fuel calculation.

There's another thing I didn't think about that became apparent after talking with one of the ECU gods here on the forums. The difference in temperature between the two will be around 7* with an efficient intercooler core. So you can run one or the other and it doesn't really make a difference.
