Will installing a turbo-back exhaust void your warranty?

To my knowledge, you have to remove the manifold/turbo assembly to install one of these. Would this cause a problem if I want to retain my factory warranty?

To those of you with turbo-back exhausts, have you had trouble having mitsu service your car under warranty?

The Buschur turbo back bolts on - no removal of turbo or manifold.

You can also get a high-flow cat with the Buschur exhaust that will be totally legal.

Other than your exhaust specific warranty, an aftermarket exhaust should not void your warranty for your vehicle. It really boils down to your dealer and how much of a ***** they wanna be.

I've had my car in for warranty service with my Buschur Turbo-back exhaust installed.. first, It was never an issue for the dealer at all.. I even was asked quite a few questions by the guys there who were thoroughly impressed with it.

Although there's the possibility that an aftermarket exhaust can void your warranty, its unlikely that it would ever be an issue. The dealer really can tell the difference on warranty claims whether the car was abused or not. Its like going to the dentist, he can tell if you've been flossing or not, no matter how much you insist that you did..

an aftermarket exhaust may be voided. the thing is that the exhaust's warranty is more emissions based, other than the part of the warranty covering the exhaust from rusting. if you install a cat-back exhaust, it will not void any warrantees except for the rust...but that makes no difference as you don't have an original exhaust anymore. a turbo-back exhaust will effect(emphasis on the word "effect"...and not the word "void") as it alters parts pre-cat. however...again...if you're changing to a full turbo-back system...or even if you're just modifying a dp...i highly doubt you'll have much concern for the emissions warrantee.

during my "negotiations" I specifically told them that I intended to add an after-market turbo-back exhaust system and asked if that would do anything to my warranty. They said "No". But I did not get that in writing. We'll see.

I got the RMR downpipe and cat-back which is strickly bolt on. I will probably get a high flow cat at some point but for now the stock cat will do.

On a NA car the exhaust is no problem, But on a turbo car I'm not so sure about your drivetrain warrenty because you get a noticable change in power.

Which turbo-back system requires you to remove the turbo to install? That seems pretty silly to me.

having a very close friend of mine, who is shop foreman at a local
mitsu dealer that i bought my evo from,he told me in no uncertain terms, that if anything at all is altered(ie;cold air intake, exhaust, ect.),and the suspect warranty claim is a drive train related component, you will not get any warranty from mitsu,
and on these cars, most of the larger warranty claims require DSM
approval(district service manager).he told me also that anything
major that goes wrong, mitsu always requires that they attempt to repair, not replace.I work for a major competitor dealer not far
from this dealer and our warranty is just the opposite,if you *****
enough we will replace almost anything, cold air intake, supercharger, exhaust equipped,or not.different manufactures have different standards. My friend instructed me if I want something major warrantied, just put the factory **** back on for a headache free warranty claim to be processed.I was also quick to reassure him that he will never have to rebuild any of my ****,because it is hard to re-ring an engine for an oil consumption
problem with #4 connecting rod hanging out the front of the block(LOL). Just my 2 cents. You may find a dealer that is a little easier going, but being in the automotive industry for almost 20 years, you are more than likely not to find such a dealer, than you are.remember, the paying customer always gets better treatment than the person trying to get warranty work done, and that goes double for mitsu. Hope this helped

The vishnu system was the one i was referring to. He states on his site that you will need to take apart the turbo/manifold assembly.

Simply take off the turbo back when your car goes in for warrenty work.
