Unhappy need some advice...

So I have been waiting on DOL to send the title to the current owner of the Evo i plan on buying... we both agreed to wait for it however I have not paid any deposits or signed any papers...

It is a 2005 blue evo 8 SSL stock except perrin turbo back exhaust 57k miles for 18750

Now i found this on ebay (it is about 150 miles away from me)

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Evolu...US_Cars_Trucks

The seller is a dealer, when i asked him what mods exactly are done to it this was his response

"t has full exhaust system, pop of valve, and adjustable turbo boost
valve. I will sell the car for 19990"

Is it just me or does this almost sound too good to be true??? basically 1350$ more for an evo with half the miles, (if i bought the blue evo @57k miles it will need the 60k tune up soon anyways...)

I would feel bad if i broke it off with the other guy, but everyone keeps telling me i dont owe him anything....

What do you all think?

First off, it is listed as a Evo VI.. not an VIII.. Two what in the world was that guy trying to say in that email he sent you. I understand people dont know the names of things but he should have told you what he knew and not tried to make up things. Three, the price is fine so I would not worry about that. I would find someone that is experienced with evo's in your area and go take a look at the car. If you know what your looking for then you should be able to spot what is done to it and what ever else. Inspect the whole car, test drive, the whole nine yards. Dont play the emailing game because all they are trying to do is get you in the door. Just go there without all the chit-chat and see for yourself.

Do what's going to benefit YOU. You really don't owe him anything. Tell him they took too long and you found a better deal. There's nothing wrong with that...

Yeah i saw that it was listed as an Evo VI.... and it clearly is an 8, The car is about 150 miles away but that is worth it to me... I can try to find a shop somewhere in milaukie oregon to take it to while i am down there (i don't know anyone up here with any evo knowledge...

His dilemma is that he doesn't want to break the "deal" with the first guy because he will feel bad..

Dont worry about "hurting someones feelings" for breaking a deal.. You have no made a commitment to buying it. Move on, find something that makes you satisfied

Alright I think ill be driving down to OR tomorrow, Ill try to find another import or foreign auto shop for an inspection, I always worry they don't look hard enough...

perhaps I will try to google some "what to look for when buying a used evo" thread, any ideas would help my vehicle knowledge is limited at this point.

Click the search tab at the top of the screen. One thing I would look for is bent fins on the radiator facing the engine

check if this black evo 8 has multiple previous owner or just one previous owner. if it is a one owner evo, that looks like a deal. but, still check it when you get there.
