help identify this hole and sensor!!

i just got an evo and i was getting ready to detail the engine bay and was checking everything out and i came across this. can anyone tell me what this hole goes to? should it be plugged? also there are no wires to plug into this sensor.. not sure what its going to.


plug on left of radiator hose, hole on the right side

I think they're both vents. The top one should have a rubber mushroom looking thing in it, IIRC.
I have a 6sp though. Can you see what's in the hole?

i cant feel anything in there or see anything.

i dont have undercarriage thats why you see the rocks.

The one on the left hand side is just a vent.The one with the hole is access for the rod that holds the clutch fork together.There should be a brass cap on it.

Thats a freeze plug.

The access for the throwout bearing is on the bottom of the tranny.

100% correct. The missing cover is just like a baby freeze plug. Found that lil SOB jammed between my starter gear and flywheel after a clutch install once.
