Has anybody ever reupholstered Sparco seats? I have a set of red Sparco Torino seats that are fading like crazy and a bit tore up. I was wondering if anybody has ever reupholstered these or had a quote on them at all. I'd appreciate any info. Thank you.

Back when I had an old 928, I once took it to an upholstery shop for an estimate. The guy didn't want to do it and said it would be too expensive. I looked on ebay and some place has some pretty good looking covers that replace your old cover. It requires using some hog ring pliers and such. Not too difficult an install, but alot better than just pulling some seat covers on. You may do a search for them. Not sure if they are made for the evo recaros or not. If you can't find anything like that, I'd say buy new seats or take it to a professional.

Upholstery shops are all over the place. I'm sure theres one around you. I'd take it the seat out of the car and just drop it off. Worst case, you may be able to disassemble the seat and just ship the lower part to a shop if you think they can match the fabric.

(not trying to thread jack)

I think you'll have to take it a shop to get it done because I think thats what I'll have to do with my door that needs reupholstered..

but does anyone have an idea about reupholstering a door..the piece of material on mine is hanging off a little and just wondering if anyone ever did it themselves or if you had to take it somewhere..Thanks!

You really should take the job to a good auto upholstery shop, and get an estimate. Does the manufacturer sell replacement material? What kind of stitching is required? Do you want to upgrade the padding or covering. Change the pattern? Etc.

I don't know if this will help you or not, but I'm getting the front and rear seats, and center arm rests of my Evo completely recovered with high quality leather (mainly to get rid of that awful blue center). I'm delivering the seats to the shop, which specializes in show car interiors. It will cost about $1,800. I'm sure that you can get seats recovered for less, but upholstery is like paint- the price you pay is based on the choices you make.

I could really care less what they put over it. It's currently red and faded a little with some tears here and there. I could probably do most of the break down myself if they could just put the fabric back on. I would just want a simple black done. Nothing special except for maybe the Sparco symbol put back on.....

Don't even attempt unless you have the experience...or don't care how they will come out. It really isn't a hard job, but it will be for anyone who doesn't know what to do.

Hello, have you gotten an estimate or have done the seats already? I do upholstery and you can go a few ways with your inquiry: the first is to dye it and the second is to change the material - the dye process you can do, just follow the steps on the dye but the re-upholstery I would have to do, do you want the same fabric matrial or other to prevent fading? Let me know, hope this helps, thanks!

i did the seats and doors in my E-36 in highschool and they came out sick...stilll holding up great. i used microsuede tan and black.

the best part about it is that if you are careful when removing your current fabrc you already have a stencil

give it a try yourself and see how it goes, worst case senario you can find one of 1000 places to do it for u at varying degrees of prices.

Or just jump on katskins and see what they have available for those seats. I know they make beard seat covers they may make recaro.

To do a set of sparcos, your looking at around 800 bucks depending on your material. Legit leather is very expensive, and will run your bill up QUICK. Suede, or a soft vinyl(Rav, Illusion) will keep cost down, but still look as good. Im not super close to you, but i have done a set of sparcos before, and many sets of racing seats, as well as full custom interiors in many cars.

As far as the door panel, They are a *****. If its peeling up, your only option is to recover all 4 in a matching material because the material cant be bought.

Any more questions, feel free to ask or PM
