Evo 8 Tire Question...

Hello! I just bought my first 05 Evo 8 RS. and had a question about tire size if anyone can help...

Has anyone ever used 215/55/17 on Evo 8s? Im still in the learning process with these cars because my husband has an eagle talon so I'm used to those and not 100% on the evos! Any help/advice for a newbie would be greatly appreciated!!!

Common tire sizes for these cars are as follows... You can use these sizes for the stock wheels, although 255's do like a wider wheel, they will fit and be OK on a stock 8" wide wheel.

235/45/17 OE

245/40/17

245/45/17

255/40/17

I do not suggest going to a narrower and taller tire for everyday use.

Love your screen name btw!

HAHA thanks! :]

It is my DD so they will be used for everyday use and as far as snow and ice goes, im in KY so one day it could be snowing and the next be 80 degrees outside so theres no telling what the weather will be like. I want to make sure the tires will fit ok and according to the standard sizes it appears it will just may be a little rough on her (yes my car is a her :])

215/55/17 would be almost an inch taller than the same tire in the OE size 235/45. That would also have an effect on your speedo reading I would think.

If this is your daily driver, just stick with the OEM size, that way there is no confusion. There are many options in the 235/45/17 size that will fit your needs. Many reviews on TireRack to help narrow down your decision. Good luck.
