Dimming CD Player

Hey Guys,

A friend of mine has an Evo VII with a stock Infiniti radio unit. Recently his CD player is acting up. Basically the AM/FM radio functions as it should but whenever you put in a CD, the display starts to dim/blink/show weird symbols before actually shutting down after a minute. Nothing has been touched and everything is stock, so now the question is, is it time for a radio replacement or is this some type of a power/electrical problem. Has anyone experienced similar symptoms with a stock CD player? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I had something kind of similar. After a few weeks, my fuses finally shorted out. I found out that I had a bad ground. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the reply. Sorry to sound stupid but what did you end up doing? Bad ground as in the ground wire on the back of the radio?

Thanks for all the responses. Now the question, where exactly is the fuse responsible for CD player ? Does anyone have schematics? We can not locate owners manual, I know it was there.

there is one under the hood, and one under your dash. look where your left leg goes. it should be behind the dimmer. also if it has an inline fuse (from the battery) i would check that too. As for your question about what did I do? I just tightened the bolt to the chassis a little better and was good to go.

Does anyone know the exact location of fuse responsible for CD player? We can not find owners manual, I opened the hood and I found a fuse with a musical note symbol showing on the corresponding diagram. Also, what will happen if I remove the ECU and plug it right back in? Thanks for any help.
