Sweet Smell but no white smoke

So i Know if you smell a sweet smell its coolant that has burned which usually means head gasket right? Well SOMETIMES I smell that and now im worried i have a problem Any input would be greatly appreciated.

i had the sweet smell last summer. it turned out that the coolant line going to my throttle body had a split in it and was very slowly dripping down and burning off on my dp.. hopefully it is that easy to fix.. good luck

Probably your lines. If they don't look new, replace them (3 small diameter, 2 large IIRC)
Coincidentally, I too have an 05MR and mine started to give me a problem in the early summer; maybe they only last 5 yrs!

Mine had a smell of coolant when I bought it as well after driving it. I started noticing it more the second day then the third day when it was idling I had a puddle under the car. Had my EVO buddy come check it out and he said its the water pump. I have 62k on the car.

Yeah when my clutch went out on me, it had a smell like rotten eggs. I guess that could be sweet smelling to some people

so i went out to examine my car for a burnt oil smell.. never found a leak but i did notice right when my head goes above the exhaust manifold i smell coolant =( so i kept looking for a sign of oil or coolant now and found nothing but i did find that my exhaust manifold has a massive crack in the first tube wtf

+1 My first check would be the coolant hoses for any cracks, dry rotting or loose connections. Also if the smell can be noticed with all windows up check the heater core for leaks. Possible bad or loose radiator cap and finally if you absolutely can't find the source of the smell then use an ultra violet dye in your coolant and after a short drive scan engine bay with black light and that should detect the leak for sure.
