What exactly causes the loud thud/clunk? I have noticed if I am pushing the car hard it can do that on my 3rd to 4th..

 

That noise is more like a clunk, it's when your power shifting it like a RWD car. It's a good unit to buy but if you don't notice it much now then it's boot. Yeah it saves weight but you gain alot of vibration from the rear
