Road trip and no cruise control!!!!

I'm about to go on a road trip and I'm dreading the lack of cruise control!!! I seen this cruise control kit up on Lancershop.com and I was wondering if anyone has tried it. Is there any known problems? Is there anything they don't tell you and you have to find out after install it? Like a cable being in the way of your leg or things like that. Want to know before I buy it!

Theres a thread in the how-to about the install and a couple on how they perform (Ill let you search for them ). From what I understand they aren't quite as good as an OEM system but it gets the job done.

I drive 300+ mile round trip a couple times a month in the summer to autocross so Im planning on installing it later in the winter.

I installed one years ago. The parts came from a shop that does or did cruise installs. This cruise works every bit as good as the factory cruise on my WRX (well, better because the buttons are more convenient). So, electronically, these after market cruise controls have been perfected.

On a kit there are some switch setting you have to have correct and the install must be done in a workmanlike manner. I had done cruise installs in the past so this was nothing new for me.

I know what it feels like, I drove Virginia Beach Va to Miami in one day 16 hours and just under 1000 miles. did it twice, my knee and my ankle was killin me but otherwise wasn't too bad. but cruise control would have been so much better.

That's the only thing I hate about the evo my toes go numb after driving for so long..The down side of the cruise control is more weight will be added to the car and more malfunctions could occur with this kit.

Haha, I bought the Evo, and thinking it is Mitsu's top of the line car so it should have alot of options. Hell, the civic Si I traded in had cruise control. 15 minutes after driving off the lot, get on the interstate and it's like omgwtf! At least the seats are pretty comfy so it isn't too bad. Did quite a few 12+ hour trips, and the big one going from MA to AZ.

I bought that cruise setup for my last evo, but never installed it and sold it with the car. When I pick up another, I'll be getting it. Not only does it make highway driving much easier and comfortable, but it helps you to not speed so much. It's really easy to speed down the highway since you're rpms are so high and that's just asking for unneeded trouble.

It definitely sucks not having cruise. I say get it, and forget what the haters think.

I've already done many road trips and I enjoy them all in my evo... I do the occasional "alright guy, let's race" but for the most part it gets uncomfortable, toes go numb, leg dies, *** is fried... Just considering this an as option. Who knows... I might even just invest in some doctor scholl's *** ergos or something.

If you're taking the trip and don't have enough time to install that cruise control system, do what I did and roll up a bath towel and put it under your right knee to prop your leg up. This was a must last November when I drove from Chicago to California by myself.
