What is your cruising and boosting temperatures????????

At temperatures under 60 degrees temp outside cruising on the highway I am at 190 degrees engine temp (per my Defi gauge). Then after some firm boost on the highway I go up to 200-202 degrees and then it comes back down to the 190 again.

Then when ouside temps are above 60 degrees my cruising temperature is 200 degrees and will peek to 210-212 degrees with some firm boost and then come back down to 200.

I am at 400 awhp and about the same for trq, E85, cams larger radiator and all the supporting mods. The car is running great. I just wanted to know if most Evo's run within a few degrees of the same temp.

Thanks for the input in advance. Rick

that sound normal, if you're really worried buy a low temp thermostat

He's running more boost. Air gets hotter as it moves faster.

I would check cooling system, new thermostat perhaps. Simple and stupid but check your coolant level. You would not believe how many poeple I see with low levels.

I cruise at 180*F and after some pulls I hit about 213*F. Stock temp is 190* idle/ cruise. I am runing the original oem thermostat with a 70/30 mix.

I got similar readings driving around with a scan tool plugged into my obd2 port and reading data. stayed around 188 idle just cruising.

Leave the OEM tstat, those temperatures are fine. If you're worried about temperature, address the problem by increasing ducting and airflow to the radiator, or by using a more effective coolant ratio. Tstat changes are a poor choice on a street car.

This is absolutely correct. Changing out your thermostat does not increase cooling capacity.

1) Check coolant level and ensure there is no air in the cooling system.

2) Ensure you have a proper blend of coolant/distilled water.

3) If you really want to get into it, seal off gaps around the sides of the radiator that let air sneak around the radiator rather than go through it.

We use an OEM 10 year old radiator with OEM theromstat in our Time Attack car but it is really well sealed off with proper ducting to receive good airflow from the front of the car and evacuate it out of the engine bay and we have had zero cooling issues.

Thanks for the input fellas. Sounds like it's normal. I am fine on the coolant level and the system has been burped. My condition is very consistant. 190-200 when under 60 degrees. and 200-210 when above 60. The latter #'s being under boost. And 29psi is a lil higher boost with a new thermostat.

Cheers, Rick
