hey guys, just got my evo today! lol i dident hear this before but now i notice it. it comes from the engine bay, twords the back of the motor. sounds like a pump, and you can only hear it when you are near the passenger side of door.

Too much noise, but if you want to stop by the dealership tomorrow I can take a quick look. Mahwah is not far away at all.

 

I had a similar problem too, but it turned out to be my exhaust banging off my sway bar.

my friend thought it was a exhaust leak. i doubt it is, sounds like its sucking in air or pushing it out.

 

could very well be my exhaust almot had a hole in it from vibrating of the sway bar but i didnt really notice it until the car was parked at certain angels. do you have stock or after market exhaust.

 

everything is stock on the car. i bought it off NYC EVO.

 

no but im going to head over to 4RETECH to see if he can help. i had my friend take a fast look at it. we ruled out a boost leak and exhaust leak. boost still kicks in hard at 15 psi from that my gauge goes up to.

 

just because your boost still hits up doesnt mean you might not have a boost leak, it just means the turbo is working harder... still always a good idea to check

 

that sounds like something hitting, i had a timing belt fray in a honda that sounded like that when the hanging part hit the cover. my evo used to make a similar sound when the exhaust was hitting the lower brace. it could also be know so make sure you go over everything.

 

well i took the car to 4RETECH and he looked at it. at first he though it was the ACD was on low fluid until we found this.

we put in a new one and started her up. dident make the noise so we thought it was gone. however i was at a red light and i could hear it again ._. so it might be low on ACD fluid, unless the the hose snapped again lol

 

Damn, Sorry. Maybe just take a quick look again. The hose by the intake might be too brittle. Hopefully that silicone hose we put in holds. Worse case senario, you can get that hose from Mitsu. Comes off the EGR.

what dealer? i bought it off someone. or do you mean to change the ACD fluid?

 

yaaaaaaaay went back to 4RETECH and he found a other hose lol. changed it, cleared the engine light and dident notice any pump noise on my way back home.

 

Seems that both the EGR vacuum line and EVAP line from gas tank both had rotting hoses.
