Pass through point for gauges?

Pass through point for gauges?
Ive seen people run wires through the passenger side grommet, but where on the drivers side can you get through easily?
The steering boot has always been a favorite, but its plastic?
Reason I ask is im not extending the wires for the gauges(4 electronic) and running them all the way over to the passenger side, there has got to be a way through this side.
