Snapped my Boomba throttle blade in half!
Drove 103 miles to race last weekend. Had a new wastegate and EBC so I tried to adjust my boost level on the way there. Got about 2 miles away from the track and was still adjusting my EBC. Not sure what happened but I think I may of had spark blow out and all of the sudden my RPM went sky high. Quickly shut off the engine and pulled in the parking lot and I found my Boomba throttle blade broke in half!
From the way it broke, it looks like a backfire may have caused this. Long and expensive tow back home.
I sent the throttle body to Boomba and they want $180 to fix it plus another $16 to ship it back so $196 total. OUCH! They said the the shaft was bent too. Never even got to race my car. It was the last day of the season to race. Pretty bummed.

Kinda Interesting. I have seen throttle blades bent before from an NOS backfire but not broken. Whats it made of because it isnt copper. Almost looks cast? Not sure I want that.

I too thought the throttle blade looked cast but they claim its billet. I'd much rather have it bend than break off like that. Maybe stainless would be better to run. The missing piece was found in the intake manifold. My IM is a Magnus V5. Boomba said it was the backfire that caused this. The other blade thats still intact is bent away from the IM so that would make sense. What doesn't make sense is the missing piece was found in the IM. Thank God the engine did not ingest the broken piece!

My friend has a silverado with a 150 wet shot and it back fired and ripped the throttle body off. It had a LQ4(Iron block ls2) so the throttle body is at the front of the manifold forward facing. Anyways it shot into the radiator and f*cked up his ac condensor lol.

Sent Boomba a PM stating I wasn't happy. Their response:
I do appreciate they were quick on getting it fixed and did the seals for free. I still feel the blade should not break even bent at 180 degree's. I tested a piece of stainless steel and it didn't break when folded.
The parts seemed a little high but I also understand they have to make a buck too.
Blade: $45
Shaft: $75
Labor: $60
Shipping: $16
Hopefully this never happens again...
We examined your throttle body and bottom half of the plate was bent about 30 degrees, the top half bend about 120 degrees before it snapped. There was so much damage done due to backfire that even if the top portion of the plate wouldn't break, the throttle body would not be able to function. Center of the shaft is bent over 0.015 of the inch. Shaft being not concentric will not seal properly and cause boost to leak.
We offered you replacement parts at our cost and fixed TB immediately (our regular lead time is about a week). We also replaced shaft seals at no extra charge.
We understand your frustration but in no way we are to be blamed for what happened.
