Car shut off, now wont start

Ive been having quite a bit of trouble with the car lately. Car wasnt running right, was terrible. Finally threw a code for the injector something or other. Turned out, my injector harness was loose, since my clips were lost at some point.
The car immediately started up after those were all tightened down. Ran great, very smooth. I started driving it around the block, and finally had my car back!
Then, I was got on it a little, and getting ready to shift from 2nd to third, it just loses power. No noises, I just went to press the gas and got nothing.

At first, I thought it was the in tank fuel pump. The walbro was in there when I bought the car, so I wasnt sure on how old it was, etc. I couldnt hear the pump turning on, even with the back seat out. So, I ordered a new pump, got that replaced. Went to start the car, and it is still not audible.

Im picking up a new fuel pump relay tomorrow to see if thats it. I checked all the fuses, they were all fine.

Any other suggestions as to what it could be? I left the black cover off to access the pump, so shouldnt I be able to hear something?

Prime the car, if the spark plugs are getting wet then you are getting fuel. You can also do a fuel pressure test! Make sure there's no restriction, etc... Always check the fuse, fuel, and spark. G/l...

Bringing this back from the dead. Crank sensor was damaged. Got a new one in there, and still wouldnt start. Just got this email from the shop this morning:

Nick,

We found that your sensor was broke, so we replaced it. Everything lined up fine when the sensor was put in.

We noticed the same metal shavings that we observed last time but could not the cause for it. As soon as we cranked it, something moved allowing the toner ring to hit the crank sensor.

It is appearently all related to the same thing that was causing the balance shaft belt to get cut previously. We noticed this one we put on last time have been cut some too. For some reason either the crank itself or the drive pullies on the crank are moving much more than they should.

If it is the crank, the only real reason this could happen is if the thrust bearing is either wrong or bad. It is really hard to tell if this is the problem with the transmission and clutch on the engine. I am trying to determine a good way to check this with the engine installed.

It is strange, because with everything just sitting there the sensor lined up perfect. The toner wheel did not hit the sensor until the engine was cranked over.

So where do I go from here?

Possible broken crank, saw it happen in a 2.4 a few weeks ago... it broke on the tranny side and had in/out play about a 1/4 inch.

So the shop knew that the belt has been cut and that the sensor broke because of the crank sensor plate and didn't bother to rotate the motor by hand? That doesn't sound too good to me. If the crank is moving enough to make that plate hit the sensor, with the crank pulley on, try prying it outwards to see if there is any play in the crank in/out wise. Are they sure the crank sensor plate isn't bent?

This car has been a nightmare. I had the motor built by ER, then installed by MKC in Kansas. The day after i got her home to Indy, the water pump went out. When the local shop got in there, they found a lot of things loose. Pulleys, timing components, mismatched bolts, etc. So, they replaced all the pulleys tightened everything down. Two days later I was driving and the car shut off, which is where I am now.
The pan was dropped when the waterpump was replaced to check everything out, and there were a few metal shavings in there, but couldnt figure out where they came from. Now as you can see, they have found a few more.

Since its the weekend, I havent really been able to talk to anyone

I hate shops that do ****ty jobs.. pay them to mess our money boats up that's why i don't let anyone touch my car but its sounding worse and worse any metal shavings in the pan you have a problem and if you keep finding more don't be driving it until you get in there and see what's broke only cause yourself more money and problems

Thanks. I will know more tomorrow when the shop gets it apart and diagnosed.
The ice storms and stuff last week got them behind..

Nothing like having a car fully built, only to have problems from the beginning.

Like Aaron said, this car is just a downward spiral.

dang dude hate to say it might have to pull that whole thing apart again and check the head motor out. or send the shorty back to ER and let them look it over last time i had metal shaving in my oil pan i destroied a bearing and i beam rod and along with that crank and new oil cooler and front case were needed. Hopifully it does not come to that but as stated above I would not be moving that car until it taken apart again dang man maybe this evo is just plain bad luck sell it and buy/build another LOL car is like a black cat
