windows fogging up?
^ totally works, just set the temp to mid, vents on defrost with the AC on. Blast it until it clears up then repeat if neccessary.
If you are doing a long trip just leave it on 1 with the ac on, doesn't get cold since your temp is set on warm.

Anytime the defrost is on, the a/c compressor is on. No way around it unless the refridgerant is low or empty. Then it wont work. Just turn the heat on full hot with defrost. Your a/c charge might be low.
And you sir are right becuase ive had to turn it off before when i was out(hot in the day cold at night)
Ok so i have a 03 and i have 2 buddies with 03's and all 3 of them seem to have a problem with the windows fogging up (btw its snowy and cold here)...
Ive tried rain-x and a few other things but the problem will not go away....
Is there a cure for this out there?
THANKS
JASON

You SIR, are wrong! When the "DEFROST" button is selected on any modern day vehicle, including the evolution, the A/C compressor turns on and off, just like it would with A/C in the summer. It doesnt blow freezing cold air because the mode door is fully open to the heater core and blowing full heat. The point is to pull the moisture out of the air and clear the windshield FASTER! There is now way around it except to disable the compressor or have 0 charge. My evo does it, all my local friends evo's do it, my wife's jeep liberty does it, my parents minivan does it, and every other car I've touched for the 7 years Ive been ASE Master Certified do it!
This may not be the root cause of the OP's issue, but you need to get your facts straight before you steer someone in the wrong direction.

You must have a seperate issue going on with the defrost button and its feed to engage the compressor. I even called 3 friends who are driving their evo's right now in 15 degree weather and each one confirmed their clutch cycles on and off with defrost on.
well...
my track car which has no heater core.... used to fog up all the time, especially early morning when there is a lot of dew on the ground.
shaving cream method helps, but it's messy and temporary.
Rain-x Anti Fog worked well. I just had to clean the window really well couple of times then apply few layers of that stuff.
Otherwise, full heat will work too, just takes a bit longer then using A/C.

Is the AC turned on by selecting Defrost, or is it turned on when you select Defrost AND have a fan setting other than OFF?
I ask because I use the defroster in bursts.... As in full blast for 1 minute, then after 5 or 10 minutes I do it again.
I don't want to drive around with the AC on burning my mileage..... So if I leave the fan setting OFF in the Defrost mode is my AC still running? Or does it run all the time and after turning the fan off, I need to also move the setting back to vent?

Well just to fill you all in I found the problem my actuator for the fresh air door was unplugged? But just to clear up some issues ALL newer vehicles cycle the a/c compressor when in defrost mode that brings in fresh air that's why its called DEFROST the only way to stop it is the manually push the resurc button.............
