My friend is a service write up for BMW...
I've always thought about an M5 for my next car, but he tells me to NEVER buy an M-series car... just by the equivalent without the M in the bmw lineup.

But more and more I read about the CTS-V..... what a car.

your quoting the most inaccurate test ever done in history, theyd didnt even start at the same time and they still did the test! how do you test both cars when your not even having any of the variables be the same, each driver is different, one is a drifter and cant even take one turn without sliding. you need to see these be tested by top gear (the english top gear) with the stig driving both cars on the same track for the test's to be consistent, this show was trying extremely hard to make the American car look better and they did.

have fun in the snow...

to me, the cts-v would be an absolute waste of power. put it in 5 degree weather or snow, i'll say goodbye faster. and something about it being a cadillac still annoys me.

The CTS-v is really fast, but for me the true test is whether I have fun driving the car after I've owned it for a number of years. Strangely raw performance is only part of the picture. So far:
Toyota Corolla: Never was all that much fun but economical and reliable
VW Golf: Not very fast but had fun with it for many years
Rx 7: Got bored with very quickly
Nissan Maxima: Got bored quickly
e30 M3: still love it after 14 years of ownership
Mustang GT: Ok for a while
Evo: Only had it for 8 months so far but going strong!

I'm curious to see how the CTS-v will be viewed in a few years

If you got a V2, congrats. If you got a V1, you made a mistake... I had an 04 CTS-V, sold it for the Evo. There is nothing like an Evo when you care about performance and driving experience. I also have 2 others cars so maybe ofsetting it with a merc/bmw makes it ok haha.

If peeling paint bothers you, you should have thought about buying a GM a little harder...

Nice choice! I would have preferred the C63 Amg, but to each his own!

It's a brand new ctsv. I'd prefer a e63 buts it's 25000 more. For that I'd rather pick up a ctsv and an evo9
