Love the car, but if you are going to use it every day remember is a high performance car. Hi maintenance. Expensive to maintain compared to your average car. I parked mine up and decided to drive it on weekends. Normal wear and tear item, tires ,brakes pads wont have long life as it would in a toyota corolla. I am very **** about maintenance in my car. I check my fluids about every 3 days. It also burns oil, about a half a quart every two weeks. Terrible on gas but than again I do drive alot on boost. Stiff ride, before every one jumps down my throat I LOVE THE CAR. I just want him to know its a performance car. My 2cents

Thats true normal wear and tear items are more expensive but thats the price you have to pay if you want a pormformace car. The things that mostly brought me to the evo are the handing, performance, wow factor, 4 doors. But the biggest thing for me are the parts that it comes with stock. I would have spent at least 5 grand for hids and fogs, recaro racing seats, brembo brakes, suspension to handle as well, 17 inch wheels with yokes, momo steering wheel and vented hood, cf spoiler so I figured it was time to just buy this car. 271 hp, awd, and the safety to be able to stop on a dime. Not to mention I can see better than anyone else on the road(I love thises head lights). These all all great things. The one thing that is kind of depressing for me is the gas mileage but with an exhaust, intake, and fuel management I hope to raise the mpg. (I came out of a car that got 32-36 mph).

Out of curiosity what is the gas milage? Mixed driving v. spirited driving v. long haul driving?

As for the 50WHP mods with no turbo upgrade, and without a major search, what are those mods and the costs for them?

Go for it. The car is as practical as it can be for what you get out of it. Gets groceries with the best of them too.

I'm often asked why I tie the handles at the top of all the bags together to seal the contents...

...What do you say?!

I love the small badge you have on yours. Im sure they could make it go twice as quick by removing all the metal from the back of my Evo. Hehehe.

My Toyota Celica 190 has little hooks inside the boot to secure the bags on to.

Im sure it would be easy to buy something to stick on to do the same job.

I disagree to a point... things like the conservitive Works reflash combined with the Buschur Econo "kit" would be a very reliable 100k daily driver, Porsche killer... However, you start cranking up the boost, or going to the drag strip and that is another story. We've all seen bone stock Evo's with broken parts... Mine has even survived hundreds of Auto X/street "launches", and a heavy footed 13.5k miles with the stock clutch/flash governing events without any issue.

I really dont know. I just check and I noticed it takes about a half a quart. So i put a full quart, but now you mentioned it I am going to record the mileage and oil consumption.

A few things to point out. It requires premium gas, synthetic oil, tires and brake pads are expensive, so operating costs are higher. Also, the rear seat back does not fold, and that could be a problem when say you need to buy or transport something longer than the trunk is wide.
There is plenty of head room. I guess room for a helmet. It's a jarring ride and there is plenty of road noise from the tires, so long hauls I guess would get exhausing. I don't know, I never left my city.
I would not trade it for anything else in its price range though, but sometimes I feel like cruising in a quiet, soft suspension automatic car. That's when I drive the girlfriend's accord coupe.
