trade evo for cts-v
I don't use my Evo as a daily driver and I"m pretty sure I wouldn't want to either. So, I can understand your inclination to trade for a more comfortable car. My daily is a Denali and like the comfy seats, audio/video, navigation, smooth ride in my daily commute...things I don't want in the Evo. As for rattles and squeaks...both cars have 100K miles and will have that sort of thing. My 06 Evo with 20k on it rattles far less than my 00 Denali with 212K on it.
I'm definitely a fan of the cts-v and have considered buying one as a daily driver myself. In fact, about 6 months ago I was shopping around for one. I would be more inclined to buy an 06 and up with mileage in the 60K range for a few grand more than a first year car with 100k. However, if a straight trade best suits your current financial situation and you believe you'll enjoy the caddy more then the only thing to consider is the current value of each.
IDK about caddy, but I couldn't find a shop around central TX that would do the Evo clutch for less than $800. Couple that with only a few of them would do an aftermarket/ perf clutch and clutch jobs on the Evo get real expensive. My exedy twin install ran me 2700 for parts and labor. I'm pretty sure on a RWD LS setup you could have one done for less.

I have owned a cts-v in the past, and while it is a fun, sexy, easy to drive car, everything has its draw backs. The thing that i really hated on the cts-v was the wheel hop! It would hop bad under almost any condition, with anything over 80% throttle in lst gear, and would always hop under a hard 1-2 shift and part of second( after 2nd gear, is when she was fun to drive). Also the hop will get worse and worse, and tends to hop more easily under less amount of throttle, as the weather got worse. Such as cooler temps, rain and snow. There were times where i would just be accelerating normally in the rain, and the car would just suddenly violently hop. If you plan on doing any type of drag racing just forget about it. well from a dig any ways. There are some band-aid out there such as different axles cradles etc, but the only for sure cure is a custom rearend.
I wanted an evo ever since I drove my uncles back in 2006... I got it, loved it for the first couple months and now I'm just not that into it anymore
BUT!!! when I get reactions towards the car or when someone says "sweet evo" in a parking lot somewhere, it puts a smile on my face. Will this be your first luxury (or even semi-luxury) car? Reason I'm asking, is because my old car (350z) had the nice leather seats w/ heaters, cruise, built in nav, power seats, etc... never used any of it. Hated the added weight and really hated the power seats. That's the reason I have an Evo now... everything I need and nothing I don't.
That being said, I think you should do it and get it out of your system. If you don't like it, you'll be back in a few months.

Yes, this will be my first "luxury" car.
Welp I guess this is the bbad prt of only being 20 years old. Insuarance for the cts is over $300 per month! Its not a financial reason, its an emotional reason haha. I can't justify spending that much a month on insurance... I guess ill be keeping the evo for now and enjoy it with some track days this summer.
I'm doing my first rallycross with this car next weeend
we'll see how it does compared to my subaru.

i deffantly know where ur coming from. Evos are 4 door racecars thats all they are. And sexy, agresssive looking also lol. Cts-v's=sick, but pricey to fix+mod just like anyother luxury sports sedan. deffantly have someback up loot if ur getting into one. If u have 17-20k to play with id look in to like a 04-05 maybe E55 AMG. there super classy, ride better then alost anything out there and pull like a ****in bastard stock. amen
Plus unlike the E55 they come with 3 pedals
Which for some is a deal breaker. And any E55s for that price will come with over 100k miles as well and they are much less reliable then the V, which is actually quite cheap to mod as its either an ls6 or ls2, the weak point is the rear, but even that is not much of a problem unless you want a drag racer.
You will lose fun factor and the utilitarian value of the Evo will be missed if you go to the older CTS-V. As far as squeaks and rattles, they can all be fixed with a little knowledge, patience and elbow grease (err, and regular grease).
If you pride yourself on flipping cars, make the trade. Some trade up, some trade down. Good luck.
