Replaced ACD pump, feels like a totally diferent car.

I purchased my car with the all 3 ACD lights on, after diagnosing it the pump was locked up solid. I had never driven an EVO with the acd system before, I purchased a used unit from this forum and installed it yesterday. The replacement was pretty easy took about an hour on my garage floor with hand tools no air. Anyway after driving the car for a day or so it totally feels different to me, it may be my imagination but the car corners differently now than before. It almost feels like a RWD when I exit a corner and smash the throttle, which isnt such a bad thing. It also seems to be smoother when shifting between gears, my 1-2 shift always felt jerky when I drive easy and now it doesnt buck or kick. It may just be my imagination, I dont know but anyway just wanted to share my story.

Now all you need is the Gruppe-S re-flash for the ACD ECU and you'll be golden!

I wish I could afford this flash. But, I wonder if the TRE rear end diff mod is a better option? I don't knoe enough about the flash to know what all it does.

i plan on doing both, but sending my diff to shep. they do the same thing as TRE. I guess it wakes the car up a lot!! Between the Race flash and the Rear diff rebuild. should be able to have fun with the car whenever i want

Really now? Cause I felt no difference after changing mine. My still turned in the same, exited the same, felt pretty much the same all around. My pump did still work though, just didn't make enough pressure and the system check would fail.

goforwand: You will always use all 4 wheels even if the ACD unit is malfunctioning. The torque split is always 50/50. The ACD just adjusts the amount of lockup of the center diff.

I have one with 20,000 miles on it for sale but doesn't have the pressure solenoid on the front you would have take the one off your existing pump and just swap it only takes 5 minutes, it's held on by a Allen head bolt. Pm me if you want it. Like I said it only has 20,000 on it came off an 06 evo

There is a nice sticky here where some of us that have intalled the tre rear diff and acd race flash posted results. Lots of good info if you are interested in either or both of these.. Hint, do the TRE rear diff first. IMO every evo should have rolled out the factory with that modded diff.

The question I have is this common that all three lights stay solid and on? My car is at about 35k miles and here and there they'll all light up solid. How often (mileage wise) do those pumps usually need to be replaced and about how much do they run? Thanks

The three solid lights doesn't always meen that the pump needs replaced. You can check the codes and find out what the code is. Jumper pins 1 and 4 and count the flashes. Sometimes you just need to bleed it, or others have unplugged and reconnected the sensors under your center console by your e-brake. Search it...tons of info on this, Its how I learned how to diagnose mine. I got lucky and found a deal on here and bought mine used and it works great.
