look at the age of the MT editors...
those guys do not care about the EVO... they kinda dogged it in the article if you ask me...
sure they said it was a great performer, but that's the only nice thing they had to say about it...

I think it had a lot to do with the advancement in technology. It kinda points toward the direction that auto makers are heading. A picture of what cars are probably going to be. Other than leading into the future, I don't find that car exciting at all. Didn't Honda come out with a concept about a year ago that had a hybrid powerplant in what looked like a future NSX that was said to have in excess of 300 hp and still maintain excellent mpg?
As I recall, the original Lotus Elise got 40-50 MPG from the 1.8 engine . . . performance AND economy!
That Prius is an old fart turd box for sure.
How many of those "Enthusiast" driver/editors are going to walk down the line of cars at the end of the day and hop in the Toyota . . .

Acyually GM is ahead of all other company's regarding best fuel with power. I read an article how all these car company's are building concepts that run on fuel cells and what not. GM came up with something (don't remember exactly what) but the thing is crazy! It's kills the Pruis. It doesn't even run off of gas. It's all electric but runs off some kind of power. Something to do with Cells but not Fuel Cells. The car can still reach a top spead of 88 or something. Pretty cool I guess. I would be pissed if Gas cars will be gone though. Nothing like them. Just think in years ahead we'll all be telling our Grand kids "Nothing was like a Gas car". Ha. I think I'll kill myself if it comes down to that!

What's wrong with the Prius?
High-performance cars don't pollute, only SUV's driven by soccer moms do. After all, what's the percentage of people in the U.S. that own SUV's compared to high-performance cars?

First off it's "CAR OF THE YEAR".... not "HIGHEST PERFORMANCE CAR OF THE YEAR".
And whoever said sports cars don't pollute the air.... think of how many turbo car owners go straight pipe no cat. Even in stock form turbo cars are not very environmentally friendly.

Porsche 996 Turbo, 420 hp with LEV certification. 03 GT2 with 456 hp with the same. 04 GT2 with 477 hp with even better ULEV certification. All stock.
Cheers,
Winston
Notice the article states that the EVO runs 0-60mph in 5.3 and the 1/4 in low 14's. WTF, a performance magazine giving a poor representation of the EVO's actual (or even average) performance data. Must have been at Mile high dragway (Colorado) in 80 degree temp. I realize performance alone doesn't win car of the year, but MPH does? Where's the performance?, where's the cargo space?, Where's the looks? Engineering, yes, Car of the year, not even close. It's the overall package that takes the cake.
