TRUE 3" Down Pipe? Anyone?

As some of you Evo VIII/IX guys know, the Lancer Evo has a decent stock turbo and with bolton's you can get a lot. The biggest issue after all the boltons besides the limited flow of the stock turbo is the 02 housing which is quite small. Even aftermarket units neck down to 2.5 and then open to 3.0 later on in the exhaust.

Has anyone tried and 02 Eliminator pipe with a true 3.0 right off the turbo? I imagine this would help greatly with upgraded stock based turbos. I shall be trying one in the coming months but was hoping for some qualified info from someone in the know.

I'm running an R/T Ernie 3" o2 housing and a Works 3" downpipe and it seems to be a great combination. I was using a EPM dump before and wasn't too happy about the noise factor. I wasn't able to dyno a before and after when I switched to the 3" o2 housing but it seems to spool just as quickly as it did with the dump. Numbers in sig are with the R/T housing. And yes it's a true 3" outlet and I'm still using the stock IX turbo.

I would imagine the gains would be much higher with a larger turbo.

Once I can test that theory I'll be sure to post the results. I'm trying to see how hard I can push the stock turbo. Not sure why but it sounds like a fun trivial journey. I'm absolutely sure I'm not coming close to taking advantage of the exhaust setup I have.

More boost in due time. 28psi now. I'm still milking the stock clutch. I have a replacement waiting to go in and at that point I will push things a bit harder. My sig also shows the upcoming mods I hope to have in place soon. Sorry to stray from your topic.

Your clutch is slipping now, now way a stocker can hold 28psi, you won't get full load either. Get a clutch.

Ive done enough logs to know it's not slipping but I notice if I take a couple of spirited 1-4 runs the engagement starts getting really soft. I'm pretty easy on clutches. The clutch should be in within a month or so.

I use the MAP o2 eliminator...it's 3" right from the turbine housing. It's a little tougher to install and remove than a regular dp, but it's one of my favorite pieces on the car. Very unique. As for making more power than the traditional setup??? When I swaped mine in, I also upgraded turbine housing from 9.8 to 10.5 ported, and fixed a pretty nasty boost leak from the throttle body. Needless to say I made more power, but I also upped boost 2psi along with the above, so there's too many varibles to make a link to the new pipe. I can say that not only did my peak hp and tq increase considerably (15 and 20 respectively), but more noticable was the increase in AUC. The tq held at about 20lb-ft higher in the mid-range (3.5-6k), and I spooled a bit faster. There were several changes that made the difference, but the o2 eliminator dp played a part. I bought the piece so there would be one less possible leak point in the exhaust. I'll never look back... MAP ...great stuff
