Heater Issue

I am having a new issue with my heater. I have to put the knob (the one that has Blue/Red, all the way into the red, as far as it will go, to get heat. It is very hot there but if I turn it back at all it becomes much cooler, it is either really hot or not.

Any ideas?

If I'm not mistaken, I THINK this problem's been answered if you search but if not I believe you need to replace the HVAC controls. Your not having the common issue of 'knobs are hard to turn left and right' are you ? That's a common issue on lancer/evo's...had it on my 03 VIII and now as well even on my 05.

BUMP. The car blows cold air when started and left to idle. When I drive off and hit the gas it gets hotter. Could it be my thermostat? The car's engine temp on the dash sits at half.

When you push it all the way hot, does it make a little clunk noise as if the door had to be forced open or is there no resistance?

Not at all, I have an 06 MR so they fixed that issue, it turns fine I believe. I hope it isn't broken. This is a new issue, just started.

i had the same problem. look under the dash there is a white thing that have a cable hook to it. when u turn your heater on it should be up and when the air is on it should be down. make sure that cable isnt broke. you have to turn the kncb to hot and look under the dash and see is that white thing is working because that thing control the heat and ac

I have this same issue. It doesnt get hot unless its all the way to the right and it stays at full heat, unless I move it almost all the way back to cold and then its full cold. There is no mid setting, its either all cold or all hot. this is an Evo IX GSR.

I am leaning more towards an air bubble in your system. Have you had any work done to the cooling system? Air bubbles can wreak all sorts of havoc, but are fairly easy to fix.

This sounds like an air pocket in the cooling system, t-stat could be getting a little lazy as well though.

Any work done on the car recently?
