I have not been paying attention to what is going on with the EVO since January when I saw it at the autoshow. I was bummed to hear the release date was 1st quarter 2003. I read some of these posts and people are talking about the EVO VIII and not the VII. Is it the same car just renamed? Is Q1 2003 still accurate? I am tired of waiting for some kind of info from Mitsu and I almost bought a WRX. I wont be able to get the EVO if its over $28,000 either. Anyone have any official news?

The EvoVIII is the next generation. Minor changes from the EvoVII based on the rumors that have been floating around.

 

I read somewhere... that Mitsu would be releasing a Lancer ASX with AWD and 5 spd. in 2003, with 180-200hp. The Evo would not be coming out till 2004. I can't remember which magazine (I subscribe to too many, but if I run across it again, I will post).

Ya I think its the new Concept SUV thats coming out like sometime later with a 2.4L I4 160hp engine.

 

more then likely we will be getting the EVO VIII considering the GT-A was a version 7.5. also the price is still something no one has any idea on, motor trend said 20-26k and the "official" word said under 30k which doesnt included any options. also we will be getting the EVO in the 1Q of 2003, probably around January and it will have more then 260hp.

the EVO 8 is rumored to have GDI and a 6-speed as the only major changes to the EVO 7, oh and they are suppose to bring back the foglights.

My dad works for a mitsu dealer in Indianapolis and they say the EVO 8 is coming in the 1Q of 2003. Under 30K too. Too bad I got the Lancer, nevermind I love it and could not afford the EVO 8. Can't wait to see one though!!!
