Fill Lifters before Installing?

I am in the process of doing cams. I have bled the lifters, and they are empty now. I know the service manual says to fill them with diesel so that they cannot move before installing, however I see many people saying you will bend valves if you fill the lifters with anything before re-installing them.

Can someone with real experience please comment on the importance of re-filling your bleeders with diesel or oil prior to reinstall? I don't want them to tick, but I also don't want to bend valves.

I searched, and just found conflicting opinions. Thanks

I have done mine twice. Just bleed them and reinstall without filling them. Has worked great for me.

Wow that was quick. From what it sounds like people are just installing them empty, then running the engine at 1800rpm for 20mins to fill them back up properly. I guess I'll go with that and deal with any ticking later.
