Unfortunately, I don't have hours that I can set aside to wash, wax, buff, polish, stroke, fondle, vacuum, etc. my car. Sorry.
Well that is unfortunate...because driving your car through a car wash, you are getting none of the above services except for the wash.....No machine will wax, buff, polish, stroke, fondle, vacuum your car for you....your Evo is being neglected.

then I would say that's great advice!!!
I would certainly consider that 'being in a pinch'...

Exactly!!!! It only 30k, compare to all the performance car out there, that's nothing!!!!!!! In general, 30k is not a lot to speand on a car nowadays. Even a honda accord will cost you 25k. Quit *****ing about the 30k you are spending.

Just because the car is not expensive?...that is no reason to treat it like crap.

Cars, like most things in life, have 2 values attached to them. One is a dollar value. The other is a personal value. Both values weigh in equally when you decide how to care for that item. If it is expensive, you'll make sure you care for it as well as you can. If it means something to you, it has a lot of personal value. If it means something to you personally, you will also spend the time to care for it.

Whoes saying that you treat it like crap. It is indeed not the dollar value of the car. Your car can cost 10k and you can still place a high value to it. But when you are getting all the performance bangs for only 30k, that's nothing. What other car can compare to the EVO with similar performance given the price besides the STI? Therefore what I am saying is quit *****ing about the 30k you are paying for a 60k performance car.

I used to take my $50k car through the car wash... can;t they take away my kids for that or something. I am so irresponsible. Yeah, I run my evo through the wash. I also drive it OUTSIDE! Holy ****. There are particles and pollutants in the air, dust, birds crapping, sunlight, leaves, planes falling out of the sky.. who knows what disaster might befall my Evo. I think from now on, I will keep it in a f*cking plastic bubble, sealed up with pure oxygen and never start or drive it again.. that should keep it safe.

Or not. Some people love to take car of their car, or garden, or cook, or whatever. Not me! I like to drive my car, sit in my garden, and EAT my food. I want to spend my time doing the things I enjoy... like sleeping and drinking and looking at nice big round booty. I don;t want to spend the time making love to my car. But for those that do... that's cool. your car will ALWAYS look better than mine. Oh well.

Well watch out for your aftermarket wheels also. Easy to get them scratched. I would be horrified about driving into a carwash. "You ripped my wing off and you aren't responsible for damage" . Luckly I live in Hawaii so I wash my car everyweek in a t shirt and shorts.

NO,NO,NO!!!! Do not use automated car washes they WILL scratch your paint. You might not see it right away, but overtime you will.

Car wash and Hawaii

There are good hand washes in Chicago with $6.95 earlybird (before 10am) specials. It's $8.95 after 10am or Fri-Sun. They vacuum the interior too. The one I go to (21st & Halsted) has guys who use an air hose to blow water out of my mirrors . They like my car. They use a brush on a pole for the minivans and they wash mine by hand.

And I don't want to hear about this lucky bastard who lives in Hawaii. It's like 2 degrees here . I almost got frostbite filling up my gas tank.

Off Topic: I went to Hawaii last year and here are some pictures

Do what ya want with your own EVO....just makes mine worth more when people don't take care of theirs....

As far as Maine and New Hampshire's law....oh well...that's another reason I won't live there! LOL
Oh come on man, driving my car through a touchless carwash doesn't devalue my car. You shouldn't even be implying that we don't take care of our cars because we run them through a touchless car wash every once in awhile. I take just as good care of my car as you do. At least we are trying to keep our cars clean and looking nice.

I was wondering the same thing. I wonder if these are the same people complaining about paint quality?

[i]Are you insane????
Actually I'm starting to wonder the same thing about a few other members here! I have owned over 20 cars and have YET to see a touchless car wash leave scratches on any of my cars. As a matter of fact when I bought my car it was on the showroom floor and looked clean as a whistle but in the sunlight it is covered with swirl marks, dealership agreed tol buff it out for me but still I think many of us here agree that the paint quality is not up to par with the rest of this fine vehicle.
Now as for instigator's comment: So let me get this straight, those of us complaining about Mit's poor quality of clear coat/paint is actually OUR FAULT because we are washing our cars!! Man, this is geting hilarious but I guess I should take into consideration the age/experience of many(note I DID NOT say ALL)members in this forum. After going to one thread where members were posting their pics I realize that many here are shall we say "young"........... I'm probably one of the oldest members in here. Well I have my new Acme flame suit on so flame away boys....................

Man I sure do miss them days. Warm and sunny everyday.
As for all you folks up north, just do like I did, and move south.
It may not be like Hawaii, but at least I don't see snow.
