If you drive hard all of the time a TT is a good idea however these cars are a little fast to run long under heavy boost. I have always let my car idle if I have just pulled off of the hiway, basically I cool it down and warm up just as if I were drivng a turbo Diesel.

no tt for me.
My question is this,
Anyone notice the little chime about four or five minutes after running really hard? I was talking to a passenger letting the motor cool off and there was this little chime seemed to come from the dash. Was that a mitsu design selling point or notification that the turbo is gonna go?

Actually I didn't do anything special. I installed the harness, spliced the ebrake wire, plugged in the TT and done.
Buy the way, it is much cooler when I first got it installed when my kids freak out that I forgot to turn off the car.

By the way, what the hell is this thing?

The synthetic oil comment has merit. The main reason we let the turbo cool is to prevent "coking" which is a buildup of oil residue on the feed line. It's like arteriosclerosis for a car. It is still very prudent to let the car idle to cool the turbo because the heat and rapid cool can crack parts, namely the exhaust manifold.

Our turbo or most modern turbo factory cars for that matter, cools with both water and oil.

it cools down immediately as you're stopped or off the boost.

10 minute is really excessive. That's really for N/A cars with turbo on it that's boosting high.

I got a TT, cause the LED matches my car. lol that and it lets me out of the car immediately, and not sit inside forever.

I always try to run the car easy when you get near your destination and then let it idle for a bit if just coming off the freeway.

One thing that would make me nervous about leaving the car running (and obviously in neutral) is that at least on my '03 the parking brake doesn't seem to hold the car very well. Even if I just part it in the driveway (which isn't steep at all) you have to pull the e-brake pretty hard to keep the car from rolling.

Just my $.02

not sure if mentioned yet but the ignition wires are not rewired just tapped in, so would have no effect on the imobilizer.

After driving the car hard I always like to pop the hood. If the tubine housing is glowing, I'll let her cool down. Seriously, most turbos today are water cooled in addition to oil cooled. this will allow for better heat dissipation and less cool down time. A 1/8-1/4 mile drive is more than enough.
