What's this?

What exactly is this rubber piece on the trans and what does it do? Mine came off a little while back and was wondering if that is a problem? Looks like some sort of stopper or cushion but im not sure exactly for what?

breather tube I believe. I pulled mine just so I could stick a long screwdriver down to help release the clutch bearing.

I guess you could get your clutch wet or dirty up the inside if left uncapped? lol

It's the breather for trans, that isn't in the bellhousing. Get a new one.

I would not drive the car to much without that piece, it is there to keep water out and let the case vent the heat. I just seen a fwd 1g dsm that was missing that and when the tranny was pulled the fluid was milky. Replace it asap.
