why do so many evo owners lie about mods when selling?
Have you talked to South Coast Mits? I've heard good things about them. They have a few in stock.

I'd be more worried about buying an Evo with poor taste in mods with shoddy workmanship. If an Evo was modded right in my eyes then I'll buy it. But, yeah if seller is telling lies maybe one of the modifications he did 'cause some sort of damage.
honestly if you can find an evo that is modded and in good working condition for a good price then your set cus it will only save you money becasue eventually ur going to want to mod it yourself.
Now that I think about it I had a bad experience looking for an Evo back in the day. Spoke with the guy over phone and email for a week and he told me it was stock. Took off early from work to check out the Evo. Dumb ****er was an hour late to meet me. The Evo was dropped on some ****ty springs and had an exhaust. I was already pretty mad by now 'cause he made me wait and had lied to me about the stockness of the Evo. Then he starts up the car and bounces rev limiter so I can hear the VTA BOV. Oh man my blood was boiling. I ask him if I can take it for a test drive. He then tells me it won't move 'cause it needs a new clutch but I can give him a $1000 deposit so he can get the clutch replaced and I can test drive it before I buy it. At this point steam was blowing out of my ears and my skull cap had ejected from my skull.
I wonder if that dumb **** is on here or if anyone bought his sorry piece of crap Evo.

" Hey, I can disable your fuel pump, and pull out your spark plugs, to do a compression test?"
im sure if someone came to your door and said that. you'd laugh. I know ii would
People selling evo's that have been modded understand that perhaps someone buying it will be hesitant because its been modded... modded can also mean beat on. There are countless stories about ppl buying evo's from sketchy people with extreme low miles to find out the clutch is blown, the TC is blown etc etc..... so when person does come along who is trust worthy, he still may tell you its stock or never modded to keep your confidence up.... it happens unfortunately.
I however did buy a completely stock evo with 11k miles
I was lucky, but it helps to buy cars from ppl in their 30's instead of early 20's if not teens

If you look long enough you can find one. My car was stock when I bought it almost 3 years ago. The guys wife wouldn't let him mod until they had paid it off. They never paid it off luckily. Its more expensive to go with an unmodded one but then you know everything that has been done to it.
although some say mods increase value it really depreciates it . and maybe the car is beat to death and advertising a stock car will make the buyer suspect less wear and tear .
Im in the market now for one and im hesitant on a lot i see, i dont want anything thats going go BOOM
