Question Installation cost of replacing clutch?

I have just over 10,000 miles on my Evo, and I have only now just started noticing (what I believe) my clutch starting to slip. I don't launch my Evo to often, but it started to happen one day after I raced an GSX Eclipse, and I had 4 people in the car and when pulling out from the light I only slipped the clutch a second and then dropped it, although after I dropped it, the clutch continued to slip for about a second under full throttle before it totally enganged into first (I'm guessing because of the added weight). Now if I pull out in first gear quickly (not racing, just a quick start) I hear what sounds like the noise you hear when you backup in reverse quickly that most cars make, but the noise I hear is not as loud as it is when your backing up in reverse (if my description is making any sense). I'm just assuming that noise is my clutch slipping just a little when pulling out, and since there's very little insulation, I can actually hear the noise it's making. Now if I pull out normal I don't always hear the noise. Anyway on to my question; I would like to know some ball park figures I could except when taking my car in to a garage/mechanic to get a new clutch put in. Just the labor cost, not the cost of the new clutch. It doesn't seem to be real bad right now, so I'm not going to do it, until I feel it start to get worse. Just wanna' have an idea what to except to pay when I do.

It's going to cost anywhere from $250 to $500, depending on how well you know your mechanic...

Mitsu charges about 750+ and honestly I haven't been able to find anybody far off that price because I hear it is a hell of a job. But if Mitsu does it you get to keep your warenty and the install has a warenty as well.

Does anyone have any proof that you get to keep your warrenty if Mitsu does it?? I have a friend that had Mitsu install his clutch and they didnt warrenty it, or does it depend on the dealer

They'll warantee their work if you use OEM parts. But they still won't warantee the clutch itself it they determine it failed due to abuse.

I talked to my Mitsu dealer and they stated that I could bring them the aftermarket clutch and the would put it in and my car will still have the same warentee and they will also warentee their work on the install so you will be at no loss. I am sure some dealers are different but if you talk to them you will know right away if they are willing to work with you or not but they would be crazy not too.

But the clutch its self is a wearible item like break pads so the actual clutch will not be just as the stock clutch is not. At least the rest of your warentee won't be shot to hell though. This also depends on your dealer.

most dealerships use the chilton labor guide

While pep boys use the Mitchell labor guide, which is sometimes more fair to the customer and not the mechanic.

Dealers use their own time guides for a flat rate time cost, usually cost to 90 per hour so that plus fluids. Chiltons are republished for demostic use. That is why they usually are missing a few pages.

I think I know who VegasEvoOwner speaks of and he had an Excedy put in by our local dealer and they in fact voided the rest of his drivetrain warantee. He told me himself. You are very lucky to have a dealer that will put an upgraded clutch in and not void the rest of your car. My dealer went as far as saying changing the wheel size to 18" will void your suspension parts and all related items. I questioned them when I bought the car and just about anything besides cosmetic upgrades will void something.
