Question Oil Squirters?

After searching the forums and only coming up with results for 2.4 liter motors, I was wondering if i could run a stock bottom end without them. Reason why i say this is that when i bought my car the guy had planned to do a Mivec swap in it. Well after looking at the block there were no squirters and i was planning to use the 9 block with my 8 head. What would be the causes of not using them? What are the benefits? If i leave them out do the holes need to be plugged? Sorry in advance for the noob questions and if this is in the wrong section.

everyone says you're suppose to run them with oem cast pistons but they are not needed on aftermarket forged internals

I had oil squirters added to my 2.4 just in case. Can't hurt
