is it nessecary to upgrade rods? evo8

I heard the rods are forge is it nessecary to upgrade the rods and just put forge piston.thinking about cosworth pistion in the build Eny help?

From reading the "How to build a 4G63" book, it's recommended to replace them.

Actually, it's cheaper to just buy better rods because you would need to get the stocker machined, which isn't worth the cost compared to the better rods.

That usually happens from the rod bolt going, not the rod itself....

stock rods are still gonna cause problem eventually... but yes thats usually due to the bolts.

Highly recommend putting new rods in while you are there. Depending on your power goals though.

If you want to keep it stock, sure. But if you want to do what every person on this board does........Get rods... You will eventually need them.
