Lancer 4g63 swap

Hi guys, i recently talked to a guy who swapped a 4g63t into his colt at the track...i told him i wanted to so something similar but with a lancer 04 with the evo 4g63 setup...i have seen a few people do it and i was thinking of using a evo 6 engine because the tranny and everything is on the same side of the 4g93. I was wondering if anyone knew if the cv joints fitted into the stock 4g93 spindles and if there was something else i am gonna need to customize? I heard flywheen/tranny were a big issue because i want it to be fwd. please help!!!

FYI evo 4 - evo 9 same side trans, evo 3 is the only 4g63 facing the other way like DSMs.

I know this isnt what you want to heard........but just sell the lancer and buy and EVO.. I doubt you can do the swap much cheaper then just picking up an 03-04 Evo 8. Plus you don't get the interior of and Evo, the suspension, the body......etc

Trust me, just look into buying a whole car instead of doing this. Putting a 4G in a colt is one thing, trying to make your lancer and Evo is another.

Thats just my thoughts though.

it's worked out for me.
i love the fact i have an "evo powered mirage" without the fact it's an actual evo.
I think you will be really surprised as to what fits in the mitsi family.
My whole conversion required no custom parts, it's just a frankenstein of Mitsi goodness.

It depends on if you are planning on staying fwd. If so you need to use the manual transmission from a g64/g69 and use the g64 axles.

Do the CV joints from the 4g64 fit bolt on into the 4g93 spindle? and the transmission from the 4g64/4g69 fit bolt on into the 4g63?

The transmissions from the g64/g69 will bolt up to the g63. The only issue with this is the starter location is on the front side facing toward the radiator support. When the exhaust manifold is installed and if you were to bolt on the turbo the inducer side of the turbo will hit the starter so you will have to get a custom manifold made or use some flanges as spacers. The cv joint side of the axles will slide into our hubs (lancer/mirage). It's the input side that goes into the tranny which are bigger in diameter. Other than that it's a pretty easy swap.

Ok so i would need to get the 4g63 engine with the 4g64/69 tranny with some kind of custom turbo headers or is the starter on the intake manifold side?

No the starter is on the exhaust manifold side right under it. A lot of guys on club3g have done this swap.

It's basically what I'm building right now except in a mirage. I'm going with a g64 platform and a evo head.
