Towing car without transmission.....

OK, my parts are almost in for my rebuilt tranny and transfer case and I want to get my Evo towed to a car lift about 45 miles away. The problem-no tranny or transfer case in the car which means only one motor mount (passenger side) holding the engine up. I purchased an engine support bar http://www.harborfreight.com/1000-lb...bar-96524.html in hopes that it would be enough to hold the engine in place during the tow. Would this be enough or would I need something else? Thanks in advance.

you should only tow and evo on a flatbed anyways so on a flatbed it may not be a problem but make sure the engine is supported properly

find a tow company that has wheel jacks so you can pull it on the flatbed without fear of damaging anything

Its definitely going on a flatbed but wanted to make sure that was enough support. I may grab some 2*6's and slide them between engine and subframe to give it more support.

Why can't you put the K-frame back on the car with the front motor mount?

Thanks for the suggestions, after spending over 5K, the last thing I want is my engine to drop out while enroute I'm thinking about also screwing several boards together where it levels to the engine height and slide that under it as well, maybe tie that into the bottom of the engine. Thanks again

you dont need a flat bed for towing a evo without a tranny or t-case.

WIth that support properly mounted should be fine to hold your engine in place while you have it towed on a flat bed. That is what they are meant for.

With the front axle nut loosened you cannot put the weight of the vehicle on the wheel. Doing so results in wheel bearing damage. There are fake stub axles you can use for moving the car - Mitsubishi special tools something or other.

I would flat bed it as well. Less to worry about if something did happen to go wrong on the road .
