Help....only 12psi

So I was driving yesterday got into it a little in first gear and pop...blew off an intercooler pipe. So I pull over and fix it and decide to turn my boost down a little bit since its starting to get really hot around here. Well I crank my manual boost controller down a little bit hop back in and hit it a couple of times just to check the boost and im only making about 12 psi. So I try to turn it back up and it feels like the screw is stripped or something. So is my boost controller messed up and im just running off wastegate or did I mess something else up? I thought if I ran just off the wastegate pressure it would be stock about 20psi but I could be wrong. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi, you may want to double check this info, as I'm no expert. My understanding is that stock wastegate is 14psi. The most likely answer is that its actually 12, and that you are indeed just running off wg at this point.

It's a cheap one off of ebay...like boostcontrollers.net or something like that, I was gonna try buying a new one but now I'm kinda scared I have the issue from the link that was posted in the reply above yours....valve failure...that would suck

can anyone tell me what's involved in doing a leak down test to see if it's the valve?

There is a how-to on the forums here. I don't have the link on-hand but should be easy enough to find.

take off your intake filter attach a fitted pvc with a air compressor attachment and pressureise it, any hissing or noises that should not be there. youve got a leak,
