Took off my valve cover on my evo9
How can I tell if I am using stock camshafts on my evo. Im trying to find out if its aftermarket or if my timing is off. So far I have my valvecover off inspecting for aftermarket camshafts and camgears.
Now the camshaft in the back closest to the firewall has a capital L in the middle section of the camshat and towards the right near the drivers side a 1. the camshaft in the back also has a more closed off section for a camgear the one in the front is more open and does not have any markings.

This also goes for the evo 9. Ive seen the evo 8 camshafts and I noticed they did have holes in them. The cams that I have did not have holes in them.
I found some carvings on some ****s thats etched onto the camshafts aswell but way on the side next to the camgears s2-ex hg4c or hc4c looks weird though what can it be?
The etchings by the cam gear section behind the first cam cap are what you need to find out what cams you have. Most manufacturers put their model numbers or codes there. Also what colors are on the ends of the cams and how many stripes could be helpful too.

Your real sharp on it thanks for the heads up I wouldnt have noticed it because you know certain cars are different.I was wondering would the adjustment of the cams be easy?
I tried lining it up properly by using leaving the car in neutral and turning the crank to the straight up position. Are both markings supposed to be in the straight up position is that the reason why it lopes bad like that? Just wondering? Whats the actual way to go about performing this timing mark adjustment?

The cam lope is standard with S2 cams due to the size of them. Tuning can help reduce the lope. The timing being off will definitely effect the driving and lope.
Please fix ASAP.
