...i needed a new acd pump anyway

not a good day today. Dumb ***** pulled around a bunch of cars that stopped to let me out of a gas station, hit me going probably 30mph with phone in hand. got it flat bedded to the local dealer.

due to me being the one pulling out of a lot, its apparently my fault because the car already in the road has the right of way. luckily i have huge coverage on the car...

Im almost positive the acd pump is toast, as the acd fluid was all over the road and the reservoir is untouched.

So much for my unmolested evo

im starting a damage estimate pool for fun. im guessing the bottom line will touch if not exceed $7000.

feel free to make a guess!

That sucks man... my first car was totaled in an accident just like that, stings a little more when they hit you with the "It's your fault" thing.

Damage doesn't look to bad from the outside, how crumpled up is it under the hood?

as far as i can tell nothing is moved under the hood. but i obviously have my fingers crossed on that too. if this hit did frame damage i will first cry, then i will question the overall safety of the damn car...ive been hit A LOT harder in other cars and kept it to sheet metal only.

i originally had it towed to a dealer thinking it was punishment to run up a bill on the other person...now its just killing me

i guess i needed to offset that discount i just got for turning 25...

I wouldn't question the overall saftey of the car if it has frame damage, my 02 Mustang had a front end collision similar to yours doing less than 15 mph and had frame damage.

yeah just fix it.

Seriously, don't EVER pull out when someone waves you out. I had that happen to me, but the guy was 100yds from the light and going 45 in a 35 in the TURN lane.

The cop tried to site me, but I went absolutely ape**** verbally sans cursing. He actually put me in the back of the car. I pleaded my case, pointed out the distance to the light and the turn lane, and he eventually didn't cite me or the other ******** driver.

Lesson learned and I just keep my shades on and don't even acknowledge someone trying to wave me out unless it is into their lane. No cross lane or second lane nonsense for me, I'll wait the 3 minutes for traffic to clear.

Good luck getting it fixed.

I'm sure there is stuff that can't be seen in this pic that will need to be replaced, so it's hard to say. But, just judging from the outside, if you buy the parts new from the dealer, including prep and paint, will be around $12k.

oh dont worry its getting fixed, i have tip top coverage on it and even with new dealer parts i would be absolutely shocked if somehow this totaled the car.

im also 98% sure the idiot who hit me was looking down at her phone because as soon as i looked up whe somehow had it in her hand while half holding the wheel.

I normally would never cross lanes like that but the lane going the opposite direction and one lane were trying to turn in. even if i had just made a right and gone up the road with traffic i would have gotten rear ended, because the exit is right where two lanes go down to one about 1500 feet after a stop light. it was a lose lose situation.

i just spent like 5 hours monday disassembling and painting all the bumper mesh too...

Sorry to hear that man! Should be easy to get it to look good again. I had my front bumper replaced and repainted with new paint on the front left fender and a new se lip and came out to under 2 grand. I'd say you're looking at 5,000 ish. Good luck with it!

well just got the first estimate. Came to just shy of $6k including a new acd pump since mine is cracked.

adjuster took over an hour to figure out that the acd pump was factory and not aftermarket, apparently it does not exist in geicos database.

next issue is i will have to call and argue for a new headlight. they estimated 250 for a used one and in the included description it blatantly says "EXCL. Evolution" so he found a regular lancer light.

they claim the hood is fine and will just blend and buff it...we'll see about that.

i just had my acd pump replaced under my aftermarket warranty and it took a week to get an ok because they have no listing either. 6k seems a little cheap but as you said they are unsure about the head light and if it does need a new hood a factory one is about 1100 i think. Good luck with it

get cash/check from the insurance and buy used pieces in good shape if they will cut a check and let you do the repair work.

About 8 years ago I got in an accident because someone had waved a lady out and she pulled out right infront of me....... put my head right through the windshield. That car suffered similar front corner damage like your evo. It was totalled.
