Thinking about getting an EVO...

This has probably been asked 1000 times. Thinking about selling my ITR and getting an EVO. What kinda things should I look out for with the EVO as far as problems go? I drove my friends EVO today and I just love the car all around. However he is already having 4th gear problems, some grinding when going from 3rd to 4th. Hes got an upgraded ECU and the car moves nicely, but 4th gear is a little iffy sometimes. Its only got just over 7500 miles on it. I heard the clutches are kinda weak but dont know for fact. What else should I look out for? Thanks

I think the clutch is fine, just untill a little abuse may occur. It can't stand a whole lot. I myself don't have any problems except a little power steering problem. It seems to have burned out.

I wouldn't necessarily call a stock clutch that can launch a 3400lbs. car into mid-twelves weak. It's like what silver said if you abuse it your gonna have problems.

Thanks.

I checked out that "recall" thread and it seems like its just a lot of rumor stuff. Many people seem to have problems with the clutch though, but thats probably because they think its a drag car and launch the car all the time. Thats my assumption. Any stock clutch isnt going to last long with that kind of treatment.

How have the trannies been holding up? I guess DSMs kinda have a history of tranny problems when driven hard. Im not a guru on that though, just generally what Ive heard. I was told the EVO tranny is very strong and can take some serious abuse.
